We wanted to usher in fall at the shop with something fresh and original, and the very first person who came to mind for a collab was Jessica of Hudson Louie. If you don’t already know the Hudson Louie story, we highly recommend reading it in full HERE – but we’ll give you a few key takeaways from Jessica’s story for now…
With a degree in architecture under her belt, she decided to go the fashion route and moved to New York to attend Parsons. After school, and some time designing at Free People and Ralph Lauren (dreamy resume, no?!), some scheming and dreaming with her love, Alex, brought her back to the Pacific Northwest and a new adventure renovating a century-old home, the Hudson House. Her newfound love for architectural salvage and furniture repurposing led to the creation of Hudson Louie, for which Jessica makes the raddest pillows out of old textiles (military pup tents, midcentury blankets, and vintage bark cloth all make frequent appearances in the lineup).
Hudson Louie pillows have been a customer favorite for a couple of years now around here, so when Jessica said she’d do an Anders x Hudson Louie collection for us for fall, we were beyond excited – and when she agreed to ALSO do our fall window display we were basically giddy…
A few short weeks later, and Jessica and her fiancé, Alex, came in to install the gorgeous installation she’d dreamed up. Hand-tied tassels on the perfect-gauge jute rope, plus hand-lettering on the window all tie together to make the prettiest autumn window we could’ve imagined – and the perfect complement to the stacks of hand-dyed pillows she delivered a couple days later.
Midcentury comforters have a new life after being sewn into beautiful pillows covers, and hand dyed in warm shades of fall… we love that each repurposed pillow has its own story and was clearly handmade with care.
