Spritz with a Twist – Amaro Angeleno

AmaroAngeleno-0001

I’ll be honest – I’m a sucker for a pretty label, and, needless to say, when a photo of this Amaro Angeleno popped up in my Instagram feed, I knew I had to get my hands on some! It’s not available in the Seattle area yet, but luckily for me, we spent spring break in LA and I made getting a bottle (or 3) a must.

Cue Hi-Lo Liquor: a rad new-ish Culver City market that’s reinventing the concept of the corner market. It’s gorgeously designed and the staff was charming and helpful, which makes any shopping experience more memorable, if you ask me. We grabbed some snacks for the kids, a bottle of wine for our evening at our Venice Airbnb, and a few bottles of Amaro (one for us, two for friends at home). I wish I’d thought to take more photos at Hi-Lo, but I was just too focused on the shopping (sorry)!

AmaroAngeleno-0002 Now for the recipe… I found a delicious one via Hi-Lo Liquor and made it even easier by using a little sparkling lemonade rather than the fresh lemon/simple syrup route they suggested. (I’m sure the original is perfect, but I had the sparkling lemonade on hand and was feeling lazy about mixing up a simple syrup – you could go either way!)

Ingredients:
2 oz Amaro Angeleno
4 oz sparkling wine
1-2 oz sparkling lemonade (we love Lurisia)
Fresh citrus for garnish

Mix all ingredients in a large wine glass, fill with ice and garnish with some fresh citrus.

AmaroAngeleno-0005 I honestly can’t think of a better, light summer drink to kick off your weekend – and if you can get your hands on some Amaro Angeleno, do it – we love the citrusy, light flavor.

Cheers!!
